DenaliMedia (TV), Audio Technician

JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

 

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Audio Technician is responsible for the execution of live newscasts and video production projects as assigned/scheduled. The Production Control Operations staff ensures all technical aspects of a newscast or production is consistently meeting the high standards set by Denali Media management. They are technical troubleshooters with good communication skills.

Essential Duties of the Audio Technician:
Working as a group to create high-quality, technically competent newscasts. To oversee technical aspects of the production of newscasts and video productions while providing support to producers to create compelling programming.
 

REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Demonstrated experience working with sound mixing boards, wired and wireless microphones, and IFB equipment.
Technical understanding of mix-minus, equalizers, compressors, limiters and gates preferred.
Strong verbal and written communications skills.
Ability to handle high stress and fast paced environments, multi-tasking and working as a team. Competent with the use of computers and knowledge of Adobe Photoshop.

Additional Job Requirements: Set up operate, and maintain audio equipment for live newscasts and video production projects. Provide support to the Assistant Live Show Director in creating graphics as assigned.

Audio Operator

Ensure all wired and/or wireless microphones and IFBs are correctly laid out and tested for on-air talent.
Operate and regulate audio mixer to adjust sound inputs and feeds ensuring quality of sound for broadcasts.
Monitor video playback server and announce time cues to production crew.
Report and/or repair equipment problems.

Graphics Assistant

Coordinate with the Assistant Live Show Director to prioritize graphic needs with respect to deadlines for broadcast.
Utilize graphic creation tools to build full-screen photographs, charts, graphs, maps and “over the shoulder” graphics to station broadcast standards.

Physical Requirements: Technical Position: Strength and coordination sufficient to perform job duties and work in cramped spaces. Hearing, vision, depth perception, and hand-to-eye coordination sufficient to perform job duties.  Visual and auditory acuity necessary to operate equipment and identify color-coding.  Ability to tolerate temperature, weather extremes and low light conditions.

Working Conditions: Inside/outside work; noise; standing; sitting; hot/cold temperatures; cramped quarters; angry customers or employees; travel; flexible schedules; overtime, weekend, and holiday work.  
 

Minimum qualifications:
·        Minimum of one (1) year in live television production to include experience running sound mixing boards.
 

High School diploma or equivalent is required.  Associate’s degree, vocational certificate or equivalent work experience preferred.

Driving Requirements (if applicable): Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and a satisfactory driving record, etc.
