If you are passionate about journalism and thrive on generating compelling news content, we want to talk to you! This position will research, develop, write and perform news, traffic, weather, public service, special features and/or other information elements for Results Radio stations in the Yuba-Sutter, Chico, and Redding. This position also performs a live presentation 6:00-9:00 AM Monday-Friday on KUBA-AM/FM and will be based at our Yuba City building.
Minimum 3 years of experience as a news/traffic/information reporter, and in production room;
Demonstrated experience in facilitating relationships with community leaders;
Demonstrated ability for effective broadcast news scripting ‘for the ear’;
Demonstrated ability to deliver news in a manner that speaks to the target audience
News Director Duties
Deliver timely news and information relevant to each station’s target audience;
Research, write and perform newscasts in a present tense bullet headline style;
Research, write and perform in-depth news coverage for major news stories;
Research, write, and perform various local features (i.e. Local Leader Profile, Community Hero, Community Calendar, etc.);
Write newscasts, stories, and community service elements ‘for the eye’ for station websites.
Re-purpose local features for online distribution on Results Radio digital platforms as on-line story content, on-demand audio, blogs, etc.
To execute news elements as defined in the Company’s programming handbook and/or news templates.
Provide news, sports, and/or weather reports to Results Radio stations in other markets.
Attend and participate in programming meetings as directed by the Cluster Operations Manager.
Any additional job responsibilities reasonably assigned by Employee’s immediate supervisor.
Additional Job Requirements
-Must have valid Driver’s License and be insurable by Company.
-Must be able to carry/lift remote and appearance equipment.
-Attention to detail, Reliable.
-Neat Appearance for meeting with and/or recording community/public service contacts.
-Must be available to work weekends and evenings as necessary for major/breaking news.
-Must be able to operate broadcast control and production rooms.
