RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities: Responsible for implementing radio and/or internet sales programs designed to maximize sales revenues and achieve revenue goals set forth by the company. Generate revenue by developing market potential through forecasting, lead generation, qualification, and closing sales; recommending new products and services. Initiate sales process by scheduling appointments; making initial presentation; and understanding client requirements and needs. Regularly meets with prospective and current clients to create and maintain sales relationships. Close sales by building rapport with potential clients; explaining product and service capabilities, overcoming objections and preparing contracts. REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of all applicable FCC rules and regulations, sales principles and practices, products, customer needs, competition and market trends. Remote Events Operator: FLSA:  Non-Exempt (On-Call Position).

The Remote Events Operator will support the field and/or broadcast operations groups for special events and on-air support.  Responsible for managing gear for   off-site events and/or troubleshooting equipment malfunctions within the master control operations group depending on the role assigned to.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Duties of a Remote Events Operator:

Field Operations Essential Duties:

  • Work with a crew during broadcasts of special events, involving on-air support of multi-camera remote/out of studio productions.
  • Typically supports in the capacity of grip, cable assistant or production assistant.
  • Provide pre-production and post-production support as needed.  
  • Load gear for the off-site events ensuring safe loading into vehicles.  Ensure timely completion of deliverables.

Broadcast Operations Duties:

  • Serve as a Master Control Operator, responsible for monitoring the quality and accuracy of the on-air product.  
  • Ensure signal transmission meets government regulations which include both technical ones (such as those against audio over-modulation and dead air), as well as content ones (such as indecency and station identification).
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, and prepare programming for future playback.

Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.  This is an on-call position.

The company and its subsidiaries operate in a 24/7 environment providing critical services to Alaskans and may need to respond to public health and safety matters or other business emergencies. Due to business needs employees may be contacted outside of the normal business hours to respond to the immediate emergency. KTOO Public Media is recruiting for an experienced journalist for Alaska’s Energy Desk, our Alaska Regional Journalism Collaboration (RJC), funded by a major grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.   The partner organizations have dedicated a team of reporters, editors and producers to provide in-depth coverage of energy and environment issues in Alaska for statewide and national audiences. Topics will include resource development, energy in rural areas, the state budget, the Arctic, climate change and federal-state policy issues, among others.  This is an exciting opportunity to work on a high impact news capacity-building effort at a dynamic time in Alaska.  

This position will be a KTOO employee who will work from the newsroom of the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner in Fairbanks, Alaska, with occasional travel to the North Slope with the support of KBRW, Barrow. The reporter will complement our ten-member team. This position is TERM FUNDED for 12 months with the possibility of extending beyond the initial year.

 

 

The Alaska’s Energy Desk collaboration is a partnership between five media organizations.  Managing partner  KTOO in Juneau operates the 360 North statewide public affairs channel and three public radio stations – KTOO, KRNN and KXLL. Anchorage-based Alaska Public Media operates APRN, the statewide news network, along with KSKA-FM and KAKM-TV. KUCB operates KUCB radio and TV in the remote Aleutian Island community of Unalaska.  The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner has been the journalistic voice of Interior Alaska for over a hundred years in print and now online. KBRW operates the northernmost public radio station in Alaska serving all of the North Slope communities across 88,000 square miles.
