Executive Producter

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Executive Producer assists the News Director with all aspects of news, weather and sports programming production, and serves as the news manager in the newsroom.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists the News Director with management of all aspects of the News Department (other than Production).
Assists with planning, staffing, training, and performance evaluations for the News Department.
Consults on decisions regarding hiring, evaluation, promotion and termination of employees.
Develops news coverage strategy for the station and its website.
Must be able to produce newscasts on a daily basis. 
Critiques newscasts on a daily basis to correct errors, improve coverage and provide mentoring feedback to news staff.
Assigns projects to staff and verifies that deadlines are being met.
Ensures achievement of viewer rating goals.
Determines programming and evaluation of equipment needs to produce quality programming.
Responds to coverage questions.
Serves as the News Director in his/her absence.
Performs other duties as assigned. 



REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelors degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
Fluency in English.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Minimum two years experience in news programming production, with some leadership experience preferred.
Ability to identify the developmental needs of others and to coach, mentor or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge or skills.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The Executive Producer must be able to stand, sit, conduct telephone conversations, use electronic mail, write letters and memos, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers, work in close proximity to others, work outdoors in all weather conditions, and work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. In addition, the Executive Producer must be able to lift, set up and operate equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, and be able to handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls. Repetitive movements are required. Work may be conducted in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Minimum one years experience in sales, preferably in the media field.
• Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record.
• Experience achieving long-range objectives and implementing the strategies and actions to achieve them.

The Meteorologist forecasts weather conditions and produces and anchors weather reports for all platforms in a manner that is clear, engaging and meaningful to news consumers.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Produces and presents weather reports for all platforms.
Ensures that all weather content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.
Writes and delivers weather stories in a clear and concise manner.

Responds to breaking and/or severe weather events and other urgent newsrooms situations as required.

REQUIREMENTS:

Experience in weather reporting or anchoring preferred.
Superior on-air presence.

Ability to effectively listen to fully understand problems and communicate with a team to shape a solution.

The Production Assistant is responsible for operating television cameras to record scenes for live and recorded broadcasts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Composes and frames shots, applying the technical aspects of light, lenses and camera settings to achieve the effects sought by directors.

Adjusts positions and controls of cameras to change focus, exposure and lighting as requested by the director.

Operates studio cameras during live broadcasts.

Audio Operator

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Preparation of the audio board and equipment for shows, as well as maintain the quality of sound throughout the newscast. Audio ops are responsible for checking sound levels on microphones and other audio equipment functionality, including running sound checks, as well as maintaining the work area for other members of the production staff to ensure safety and productivity. Audio operators help organize cues to perfect the order of execution for effects, music, and other sounds by referencing their show rundown

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operational knowledge of Digital and Analog audio consoles and peripheral equipment including digital and analog patch bays and routers.
Setting up, checking and ensuring that all microphones, audio and media playback are adjusted for proper VU levels and equalization.
Proper setting of IFB mix minus and Telos Systems for Live Shots and Telephone call-ins.
Proficient in Signal Processing with Reverbs & Effects
Coordination of all RF/Wireless equipment (i.e. microphones, IFB and PL) as well as all studio foldback & Live Sound Performance
Anticipate equipment problems and having solutions
Consistently achieve client satisfaction by ensuring that creative goals are met.
Other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Requirements and Skills:

Associate degree in Communications, Television Production or related and 4+ years of audio experience in a live television environment including news, talk, entertainment and sports programming or live audio applications, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Strong knowledge and understanding of broadcast and production technology
Studio and Remote production experience
Self-motivated, and a fast learner
Ability to multi-task and react quickly during daily broadcasts
Interpersonal and professional communication skills
Exhibit a professional attitude at all times and be able to perform in a high-pressure environment
Work well within a team environment and independently with minimal supervision
Possess strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Computer literate and technically oriented
Basic computer skills and familiarity with Windows operating systems
