Director of Finance & Accounting - Denver


Rocky Mountain Public Broadcasting Network, Inc., one of the nation’s largest and most cutting-edge public media companies is seeking a Director of Finance and Accounting to provide direction and leadership in the finance and accounting functions for a statewide nonprofit corporation of approximately 90 full-time employees.  Rocky Mountain Public Broadcasting Network, Inc.  does business as Rocky Mountain PBS and as KUVO, the full-time jazz radio station in Denver and Vail.


TYPICAL DUTIES:  Assess and evaluate financial performance of organization with regard to long-term operational goals, budgets, and forecast. Aggregate and provide reports for and in conjunction with the RMPBS Board of Directors and its Committees. Direct and lead the finance function, including monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, reports and forecasts with NETA (outsourced accounting team). Manage and direct the services provided by NETA for organizational accounting. Develop and evolve budgeting process for the organization. Investment portfolio management, including coordinating with the Investment Committee and external advisors and maintaining the investment policy statement. All tax filings including state and federal tax filings (sales tax, 5500, 990, 990T, 990N) for all entities. Establish and implement appropriate Internal Controls, audit policies and reviews. Responsible for compliance with CPB rules and regulations, tax laws, GAAP, federal grants rules and ERISA and ACA. Maintain treasury and banking relationships. Manage the cash flow of the organization. Evaluates and recommends compensation structures including salary ranges, benefits, PTO, etc. Supervise the Human Resources function including payroll administration, benefits and policies.  Evaluate, define and recommend annual personnel training function. Performs other related duties as requested or assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:  Four-year college degree in accounting or a business-related field required.  Minimum three years’ experience as a controller, accounting manager or similar role is a must.  Active CPA license preferred. Qualified candidates will also possess demonstrated capability in budgeting and forecasting, and grant management. Previous non-profit organization experience strongly preferred. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy a must.
