JOB TITLE: KQTH Program Director - LOCATION: Tucson-30272 - AREA OF INTEREST: Broadcast Operations - FULL-TIME/PART-TIME: Full-time

Scripps Medias, 104.1 KQTH, Tucsons News and Talk Station, has an immediate opening for a creative and talented mediaProgrammer to lead its audience generation efforts.

Position Summary:

Manages and schedules station programming, and oversees the stations programming department to ensure that the station always sounds its best and suits the timely needs of listeners.


Key Activities:

Develops and implements station programming in conjunction with various departments; plans program specials and series; schedules programs for broadcast; writes program descriptions for online program guide.
Supervises radio on-air personnel; assigns on-air shifts; oversees the training of operators; evaluates employee performance; recommends disciplinary actions.
Seeks out, selects and orders programming for broadcast from a variety of vendors; maintains contracts with program suppliers for broadcast rights.
Interprets FCC policies that affect the on-air duties or performance of radio announcers and operators; oversees daily program logs and weekly satellite schedule; oversees review of station logs and discrepancy reports; advises Operations Manager of equipment and supply needs.
Collaborates with Sales, Digital, Engineering, Marketing, HR, Business and Station/Cluster Management in the pursuit of audience engagement and revenue generation.
Maintain imaging and promotions; motivate and coach high-profile talent.
Serves as a representative of the radio station at community and other public meetings.
Other duties as assigned.



Bachelors degree in Communications, Radio Broadcasting, or a related field.


Minimum 5 years programming experience.

Skills & Abilities:

Excellent written and verbal communication.
Critical listening skills required.
Ability to evaluate and improve programming.
Must have extensive knowledge of radio programming.
Thorough understanding of marketing and brand management as it applies to radio programming.
Proficient in use of high impact production elements.
Solid understanding of Nielsen Audio audience measurement and research methodologies.
Strong problem solving abilities.
Able to maintain highest creative and ethical standards in a high-pressure environment.
Ability to meet deadlines and strong detail orientation.
Computer proficiency.
Effective interpersonal skills and track record for managing high-performance teams.
Must understand, embrace, and have demonstrated track record for utilization of digital and interactive platforms in addition to traditional media.
