KSKO-FM, General Manager


The Kuskokwim Public Broadcasting Corporation (KPBC) is currently seeking applicants for the position of General Manager at KSKO, McGrath, Alaska. McGrath is located on the historic Iditarod Trail, 350 miles west of Anchorage.

KSKO has been providing critical public radio service to the Interior of Alaska for 36 years. KSKO is a sole service FM public radio station providing news, weather, public service messages and music to listeners in rural Alaska 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Funding sources include the Alaska Public Broadcasting Commission, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, underwriters, listener donations and other sources.

Salary Range: $45,000 - $55,000






The General Manager reports directly to the KPBC Board of Directors and manages a small staff of employees and volunteers. KSKO controls programming with Media Touch automation and Natural Music.

The General Managers role is to ensure that KSKO meets its obligations to its listeners, its funders and to regulatory agencies. Duties of the GM include: board support, budget development, fill in as needed as well as hosting on-air shift, working with station finance contractor and bookkeeper, grant reporting, fundraising, programming, facilities maintenance, employee management and legal/FCC compliance.


Applicants should have management experience, strong skills in fundraising and financial management, the ability to work with diverse groups, computer expertise and strong verbal and written communication skills. Non-profit and public radio experience preferred, including knowledge of FCC regulations.
